The Milwaukee Public Museum is looking for experienced actors, 9 men, able to play characters in the age range of 25 to 50, and 2 women, able to play characters in the age range of 20 to 30, to fill the role of historical characters for the special exhibit “Real Pirates”, opening December 14, 2012 and running to May 27, 2013. The historical characters will portray the crew from the Whydah, one of the most successful pirate ships of her day. The “Crew Members” will teach families and school children about the Whydah’s roots as a slave ship and subsequent takeover and conversion into a pirate ship in the early 1700s. The role of the Crew Member is a paid position (up to 24 hours per week), weekday, weekend, and Thursday evening hours. The Museum asks for a commitment for the entire run of the exhibit. Auditions will be held by appointment only on Monday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 9. Actors must prepare a monologue, provided at the time the appointment is scheduled. The pay is 12 dollars an hour with some benefits(transportation or parking subsidy, museum membership, food service discounts, etc.).
