Seeking thirteen non-equity female performers to play the roles of Penelope and the chorus of maids. Other than Penelope, all other roles will be cast from the chorus of maids. Maids will play older women, younger women, teenage boys, lusty men, sailors, ducks, etc.  Looking for versatile actors willing to take risks.

Performances of this play (and some rehearsals) will be outdoors in a public city park. Actors should be willing and excited about the challenges and opportunities of working in a non-traditional space.
Ideally, choreography, musical composition, music direction, and musicians would come from within the cast, as could various designer positions. If you are interested in any of those areas, there will be an opportunity to discuss that in the audition.

Please bring a current headshot and resume and arrive 15 minutes before your audition time to fill out an information sheet.
The audition will consist of a prepared monologue and a side from the play.
Prepared Monologues should be no more than 1 minute 30 seconds. The Penelopiad is a contemporary play written in a classical greek style. A classical monologue is probably best but bring whatever showcases you.
As well, please familiarize yourself with the side (available on There is no need to memorize it but think of a way to tell the story that showcases you. Are you a storyteller? A singer? A mover or dancer? Want to read it while accompanying yourself with percussion? A cello? Anything is possible. Simple, clear storytelling (in the style of a traditional monologue) also welcome.
