Assistant Technical Director

 

Carthage College Theatre is seeking an individual to fill the position of an Assistant Technical Director for the coming academic year of 2013-14.   We currently have one Assistant TD and wish to add a second one. The department produces 4 mainstage shows each year, as well as 2 dance concerts.  All scenery is built in-house by staff and students.

 

Carthage was founded in 1847 and is a private college of the liberal arts and sciences affiliated with the ELCA Lutheran Church with approximately 2,500 full-time and 720 part-time students.  The College awards degrees in more than 40 subject areas and has a long-standing commitment to educating the whole person by nourishing the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical dimensions of students’ lives.  The College is located on the picturesque shore of Lake Michigan midway between Chicago and Milwaukee and is a focal point in the Kenosha community.

Term: This is a one-year limited-term position.  This includes the fall and spring semesters, with the possibility of several weeks of work in January as well.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scene Shop: Each ATD is responsible for overseeing shop work 18 hours/week.  Shop work is performed by students and paid student workers.
  • Technical Direction: ATD’s are responsible for overseeing technical elements of each production, including attendance of all tech/dresses.
  • Teaching: The ATD will also teach a section of Introduction to Theatre for Non-Majors each semester.

 

Requirements: The applicant must hold an MA/MFA in a related discipline.
