Job Description: In Tandem Theatre seeks a qualified individual to join the administrative team of an established performing arts organization as a Marketing and Administrative Associate. A candidate who seeks to excel in arts management and who demonstrates excellent organizational, interpersonal, written/verbal skills and is adept at prioritizing will thrive in this position. This position will work closely with the Managing and Artistic Directors/co-founders to further grow the organization creatively and administratively. Candidate will apply their skills and knowledge resulting in the realization of four full-length productions and one to two fundraising events annually. This position reports to, and is supported by, the Managing Director.


Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):


  • Office Administration duties
  • Box office / ticket sales during business hours
  • Ticket orders by phone and walk up
  • Database and website maintenance
  • Volunteer recruitment and coordination
  • Writing and distribution of press releases; Creation of signage and flyers
  • Online event postings (annual)
  • Coordinate Board meetings (agendas, reminders, minutes) and filing
  • Attendance and assistance with theatre performance and fundraising events
  • Attendance at monthly Artspin meetings
  • Responsible for online event postings and assisting with social media
  • Timely reading of all selected plays for the season for marketing purposes
  • Assist Managing Director in research, identification and follow up of grant proposals
  • Assisting in the training of administrative interns when applicable
  • Various projects as assigned




  1. Ideal candidate will exhibit creativity, enthusiasm, and appreciation of theatrical performance.
  2. Knowledge of the Milwaukee theatre community recommended.
  3. A desire to be part of a creative team with the ability to work well with others.
  4. The ability to work independently in a timely and thorough manner.
  5. Candidates with strong writing and proofreading skills.
  6. Some nights and weekends required.
  7. Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration or related field.
  8. Marketing and/or Development experience a plus.
  9. Working knowledge of social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  10. Website management a plus.
  11. Knowledge of Filemaker Pro (11) a plus.


  • $15,600/year – 25 hours per week; paid holidays
  • Position is salaried with hours bankable for off-time in summer
