Its Theater Academy, teaching life skills through stage skills, is the largest theater training program of its kind in the nation.  As Wisconsin’s leader in arts-in-education programming, First Stage’s dynamic Theater in Education programs promote active learning in our schools and our community, serving nearly 20,000 children each year.


The Academy Administrative Assistant’s primary objective is to provide administrative support for the delivery of programming to all Academy students.  In order to obtain this objective, the Assistant will do administrative tasks for all locations at which the Academy provides programming.  Academy team members must be team players, lead by example, exhibit a strong work ethic and committed to the Academy philosophy of teaching life skills through stage skills and transforming lives through theatre.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

Serve as the primary front-line customer service representative

Execute daily Academy administrative tasks including registrations, maintaining waitlists, invoicing and processing payments

Execute administrative duties as assigned during high volume programming days

Provides support for collection process

Attend weekly Marketing meetings and advise team of marketing targets

Provide back up support to Tessitura



: Excellent communication skills are critical, along with the ability to adjust communications styles to varied youth, parent and professional populations. General Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) proficiency and a willingness to learn and maintain our database system, Tessitura, is required. Bachelor’s degree, social service and youth work experience is desired. Spanish-speaking capabilities are advantageous but not required. Though a theatre background is not vital, a strong appreciation and understanding of arts education is necessary.   Ability to pass a background check is required.


This is a full time position with benefits available.  Salary commences with experience.
