Door Shakespeare is now seeking applicants for the position of Technical Apprentice for the 2014 summer company. Door Shakespeare’s 2014 performance season includes William Shakespeare’s King Lear, directed by Richard Ooms and The Comedy of Errors, directed by Leda Hoffmann, which will be performed in the Garden at Björklunden in Baileys Harbor, WI.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Technical Apprentice: Seeking one energetic individual to work alongside the Production Manager and Stage Manager to facilitate the technical elements of production including costume, prop, light, and sound build and maintenance for the summer season.  Candidates should possess experience working in production and strong leadership skills.  We expect a willingness to collaborate as well as a high standard of performance. In return, the Apprentice will be treated as a member of our professional company and receive intensive hands-on experience. The Technical Apprentice will oversee the intern company as they assist in production related tasks.  Clear communication, time management, and organizational skills are required.  Experience working in an outdoor venue is preferable.

 

COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION:

Door Shakespeare’s season will commence June 2nd, with the season opening on July 5th, 2014. The season will close on August 16th, 2014 and strike will end on August 20th. The total commitment of the Technical Apprentice will be eleven weeks. Applicants will not be considered unless they are able to commit to the full summer program. Door Shakespeare will provide housing and a weekly stipend.
