Title : Temporary Performer

Reports To: Theater Manager

Job Summary 

This position will provide performances for live theater shows. The ability to convey accurate information regarding scientific process and technology though characterization, improvisation & performance is essential.  This position is guaranteed at 10 hours per week with additional hours depending on bookings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform live theater shows
  • Attend rehearsals and memorize scripts
  • Follow directions on content and delivery
  • Learn basic scientific principles
  • Operate and demonstrate exhibit technology
  • Handle guest questions concerning exhibits and museum shows and general inquiries
  • Assist with special evening or weekend performances
  • Assist in set up and breakdown of equipment as needed
  • Contributes and shares ideas for improving shows 

.  Other minor duties may be assigned.

Work Environment

  • Required to work around high voltage equipment.
  • Required to work with school groups and public audiences 


  • Experience in live theater and/or improvisational acting skills
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Comfortable working with various age groups
  • Ability to follow direction from a stage manager
  • Basic understanding of science, technology, and electronics preferred
  • Flexible schedule
