The Milwaukee Gay Arts Center announces Auditions for “The Séance Project” in conjunction with World AIDS Day

The decades immediately following the Stonewall Rebellion saw a creative explosion of work articulating developing gay culture. Newly visible, artists of all disciplines sought with their work to give tangible record to the emerging sensibility, celebrating with music, drama, prose and verse the new world coming into view. Before disease cut short their work, they examined and articulated the growing pains of a fledgling identity finding its place in the broader society.

The Séance Project is a conceived as a collage of spoken word, music and theatre drawn from the works of gay artists lost to the AIDS epidemic.
