Position Opening

Job title: Assistant Technical Director, Father Robert V. Carney Performing Arts Center (PAC)

Reports to: Technical Director/Facilities Manager

Supervises: Student Technical Crew

 

Responsibilities & functions:

 

  • In collaboration with Technical Director, plan and execute technical needs for productions and events in the Wendy Joy Lindsey Theater, particularly lights, sound, and deck plans.
  • Teach student technical crew how to properly operate equipment and supervise their work.
  • Attend technical rehearsals and all performances in the theater and ensure their successful completion.
  • Maintain the inventory of lighting, sound, and other equipment for the Wendy Joy Lindsey Theater and Black Box Theater.
  • As needed, supervise and participate in the construction of set pieces for productions.
  • Communicate with internal and external clients as to the specific technical needs of their event.
  • As directed by the Theater Manager, ensure the proper execution of the PAC emergency plan.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in technical theater, stage management, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to routinely move scenery, props, and other objects between shop, rehearsal and performance spaces weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • All employees are required to undergo a criminal background check and complete the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment Training.
  • Experience working in an academic theater setting or with young people is a plus.

 

Compensation: $15/hour Mon-Thu; $20/hour Fri-Sun

 

Schedule: Tuesday evenings, 6:00-8:00pm, and other times dictated by the needs of each event in the space and the availability of the employee. Flexibility and ability to work nights and weekends are required.

The mission of the Father Carney Center is to present outstanding performing arts, visual arts and arts education programs reflective of Milwaukee’s diverse communities and the mission of Pius XI Catholic High School. A central part of the mission is to introduce young people to the performing arts and visual arts, enhance their creativity and expose them to new experiences and ideas.
