THE BIBLICAL STORY OF JOSEPH DONE AS “FILM NOIR” MOVIE SET

Okie Joe gives the classic story of Joseph’s betrayal by his brothers a new treatment. The play is staged as a film set shooting the story of Okie Joe, son of an Oklahoma farmer, who ends up as governor of California. The original script by Alan Atwood will come to the Morning Star stage April 15 – 24.
When his brothers have had enough of Joseph and his dreams, they ship him off in a boxcar headed for California. What follows wouldn’t be imagined even in Joe’s wildest dreams. He navigates the murder, lies, and lust of his story to come out on top as one who triumphs in forgiveness.
The conflict of the traditional story plays out in a late 1930s world of only black and white. The scenes are enhanced with the essential fog and streetlamps of “film noir”, while the set crew and director frame the stage.
Fridays, April 15, 22; Saturdays, April 16, 23; Thursday, April 21 all at 7:30 pm Sundays, April 17, 24 at 3 pm.
