Seeking strong singers, dancers, and actors of all genders, races, ages, and types for Greendale Community Theater’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar, directed by Leda Hoffmann.

Auditions will be held at Greendale High School November 2nd from 7pm – 9pm. Those interested in auditions may come whenever is convenient within the allotted time. Please prepare a selection of music less than one minute in length and bring sheet music for the provided accompanist. Dance auditions will also be held November 2nd for those interested in dance roles. Come dressed to move.

Callbacks will be held in the evening of November 3rd.

We are open to casting against type, cross-gender casting, and casting outside of the age ranges suggested below. Casting non-equity actors ages 16 and up.

Jesus Christ – male, 30s, charismatic, battling humanity vs. divinity, rock tenor

Judas Iscariot – male, 20s – 30s, one of the twelve apostles, concerned with the consequences of Jesus’ fame, tenor with a strong falsetto

Mary Magdalene – female, 20s – 30s, a follower of Jesus who falls in love with him, mezzo-soprano

King Herod – male, 30s – 70s, King of Galilee, incredibly entitled, baritenor, may be doubled with Priest roles

Pontius Pilate – male, 30s – 70s, governor of Judea, baritenor, may be doubled with Priest roles

Caiaphas – male, 20s – 70s, the lead Priest who sees Jesus as a threat, bass

Annas – male, 20s – 70s, at the side of Caiaphas, sees Jesus as a threat, tenor

Priests – male, 20s – 70s, three high priests working with Caiaphas and Annas.

Peter – male, 20s – 40s, one of the apostles, denies Jesus three times, baritone, doubles with ensemble roles

Simon Zealotes – male, 20s – 40s, one of the apostles, urges Jesus to lead his followers into battle, high energy, tenor, doubles with ensemble roles

Ensemble – male and female, apostles, followers of Jesus, merchants, the needy, a mob. Strong singers and movers (no dance experience needed). This is an ensemble show, dependent on the storytelling of the crowd to set the energy of the moment. We will be creating individual arcs for every ensemble character throughout the rehearsal process.

Featured Dancers – male and female, part of the ensemble, featured in Simon Zealotes, The Temple, Herod’s Song, Superstar, among other moments. Strong dancers who are comfortable singing as a part of a group (although strong singers in this group may be featured).
