We are very excited to announce auditions for DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS at Lake Country Playhouse! Please note that actors for this version are preferred to be 18+ of age as of February 1, 2017. Those 16+ in age by this date will be considered based on their previous experience and audition. Unfortunately those 15 and under in age are not eligible for this production, however you are encouraged to contact the Performance Arts Academy, apart of Lake Country Playhouse Education, for classes, workshops, and even a full high school production/cabaret!

For the adult cast auditions, please sign up for one of the initial audition slots via the provided link. For auditions, please bring and prepare:


1 headshot and acting resume

1 contemporary comedy or farcical monologue (not to exceed 90 seconds).

16-32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. A piano accompanist will be provided.

Please also arrive about 10min before your audition time to complete a short form.

It is possible you may be asked to do additional singing or cold reading from the script. Additional singing or cold reading will not determine callback attendance.

Auditions may be done in General American Dialect (your everyday voice), however, it is possible management may want to discuss the following dialects: British RP, German, French, Various American.


Initial Auditions will be held at Lake Country Playhouse: 221 E Capitol Dr, Hartland, WI 53029


Please note that those asked to attend callbacks will be notified by Dec. 6. Callback invitation or pass does not determine final casting decisions. All who auditioned will be notified of final casting decisions no later than Dec. 11 unless notified otherwise.


Callbacks will be on Wed. Dec. 7, from 6:30pm-9:30pm. Please plan to stay the whole time, however, management will release individuals early when able to. Dancing, as well as additional singing and dialogue, will be auditioned at callbacks. Please note that callbacks will not occur at LCP, but will be at the First Congregation United Church of Christ right around the corner: 111 Church St, Hartland, WI 53029


Time commitment:

General Rehearsals 6:30-9:30pm Mon-Thurs in January, February, and March. Tech rehearsals may involve some Fri-Sun time. First day of rehearsal is January 16, 2017.

Performances: MARCH 24 – APRIL 9, Thurs-Sun

7:30pm shows: March 24, 25, 30, 31, April 1, 6, 7, 8

2pm shows: March 26, April 2, 8, 9

Leads/Supporting Roles: 3M/3W, Ensemble: 8-12 Men and Women


Any and all gender identities are encouraged to audition for roles you feel most comfortable/identify as. Due to copyright laws, the pronouns used in the script cannot change, however, your preferred pronouns may be used in the rehearsal space. The Director is Safe Zone Certified.


All roles are available. Character Descriptions:


Lawrence Jameson – Male, 40s-60s, Tenor. An experienced British con artist who is sophisticated, suave, and elegant. Possibility of a same-sex kiss. Dialects: British RP, German. Vocal range: G2-Bb4.


Freddy Benson – Male, 20s-30s, Tenor. A young, clever, aspiring American con artist. He is a sloppy, yet an attractive womanizer. Has a romance with Christine. Possibility of a same-sex kiss. Please note this character involves partial nudity (underwear). Dialects: Various American, Dimwit. Vocal range: A2-B4


Christine Colgate: Female, 20s-40s, Mezzo-Soprano. A seemingly good-natured American heiress, vacationing on the French Riviera, with a huge secret. Naive and clueless at first, she becomes cunning and mischievous. Has a romance with Freddy. Please note this character involves partial nudity (underwear). Dialect: General American. Vocal range: A3-F#5


Andre Thibault – Male, 30s-50s, Baritenor. Lawrence’s French assistant. Official and mostly serious, he has a light-hearted nature and a quirky sense of humor. Has a romance with Muriel. Dialect: French. Vocal range: F2-F4


Muriel Eubanks – Female, 30s-50s, Alto. A wealthy and attractive American socialite from Nebraska, she one of Lawrence’s victims and Andre’s subsequent love interest. Dialects: Omaha, Nebraska/General American. Vocal range: E3-C5


Jolene Oakes – Female, 20s-30s, Mezzo-Alto. An American heiress from Oklahoma and the “Princess of Petroleum,” she is very eager, optimistic, and energetic. Blend of a southern firecracker and a southern belle. Dialect: Southern (severity of drawl/”R’s” is open to discussion). Vocal range: A3-D5


Ensemble – Men & Women, Various ages, vocal ranges, and dialects. Will be playing multiple roles, such as tourists/citizens, maids/butlers/wait staff, business roles, con artist victims, and atmospheric individuals. There are multiple opportunities for featured/solo singing, dance, and dialogue moments. The director intends on substantially utilizing the ensemble for this production. Please note that some costumes may tentatively involve partial nudity (underwear or short-length garments).
