ADULT AUDITIONS for 2017/18 Season – MUSICALS

CTM (Children’s Theater of Madison) will be holding auditions for its 17/18 season’s musical productions  Monday June 19th and Tuesday June 20th from 5:00-8:00pm for adults and teens age 16 and over.                  All musical productions perform in Overture Center & rehearse downtown Madison.  Auditions for non-musicals (A Christmas Carol and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane) will be held at a later date.

Madagascar (TYA Version)  – runs Oct. 6 – 23, 2017; rehearsals begin Sept. 5, 2017

Tuck Everlasting  –  runs Feb. 17 – 28, 2108; rehearsals begin approx. Jan. 9, 2018

Diary of a Worm, A Spider and a Fly – runs Mar 9 –25; rehearsals begin approx. Feb. 10, 2018

Please note: all shows include a number of daytime school matinees over 2 weeks (3-4 mornings/wk).

Time slots available Monday June 19 between 5:00-8pm and Tuesday June 20th between 5:00-8pm.

Audition Preparation: please come prepared with two (2) contrasting 16-bar pieces from classical or contemporary musical theater.  Bring sheet music in a 3-ring binder, clearly marked. A piano accompanist will be provided.  Be prepared to stay for a dance call at the end of the hour in which you are auditioning; please dress appropriately.

Adult roles are paid.  A limited number of out of town actors can be hired and housed for each production. CTM is committed to diversity in casting.  All shows seek to cast actors of color.

ROLES AVAILABLE for Adults include Principals and Chorus/Ens.:  As of 6/1/17 ALL roles are available.

MADAGASCAR  (4M, 2W, 3 either) Most adults except 4 Principals (Marty, Alex, Gloria, Melman) play multiple roles; strong singing, moderate dancing.

TUCK EVERLASTING (5m, 3w + chorus/ens) Complex music requiring strong singing AND strong dancing.   Traditional dance (ballroom, waltz…) and ballet technique a plus.

DIARY OF A WORM, A SPIDER & A FLY (3m, 3f) adults except Worm, Spider and Fly play multiple roles; Strong singing, light dancing.

Adults are welcome to submit a video audition (YouTube preferred) if not able to make the in-person call; however, in order to be cast in Madagascar or Tuck Everlasting, actors must attend a callback in order to participate in a dance call.  Callbacks will be in July.
