Directed by Jaimelyn Gray, auditions for THE NETHER, by Jennifer Haley, will be held on Sunday, September 8th, from 11am-2pm at the Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee.

Roles:

Sims/Papa, a successful businessman, late-40s–60s
Morris, a young female detective, late-20s/Early-30s
Doyle, a middle-aged science teacher, male, 40s/50s
Iris, a shining little girl, actor able to play pre-teen
Thomas Woodnut, a fresh-face guest, late-teens–late 20s

The Nether is a virtual wonderland that provides total sensory immersion. Just log in, choose an identity and indulge your every desire. But when a young detective uncovers a disturbing brand of entertainment, she triggers an interrogation into the darkest corners of the imagination.

Actors will read sides from the script. Materials will be uploaded to theconstructivists.org on or before Tuesday, August 27th. Sides do not need to be memorized, just become as familiar as you can with the material to make active choices. Also please bring one headshot and resume with you to your audition if we have not seen you within the past year.

Rehearsals will begin mid-January, with performances running March 6-21, 2020, at a location TBD. The Constructivists invite and encourage all persons to audition, including persons of color, all gender identities, and persons with disability.To reserve a time:

The Constructivists are holding auditions for “The God of Hell,” by Sam Shepard on Monday, May 13th, from 6-9pm, at The Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Lower Level, (One block west of The Riverside Theater, enter the Grand Ave. Main Entrance by the TJ Maxx).

Emma and Frank live a quiet life with their cows in the heart of Wisconsin. They don’t expect anything exciting to come from taking in their friend Haynes, but when secret agent Welch comes looking for Haynes, this slice of American heartland is turned into a place of paranoia and unspeakable horror. A rarely staged dark comedy, Sam Shepard’s play written in response to our government’s reaction to 9/11 is now more timely than ever.

 

IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION

 

Rehearsals begin Monday, August 12, 2019, 5 days/week, 20 hours/week, Mondays – Thursdays, alternating Saturdays and Sunday evenings, accommodating conflicts.


Run: Friday, September 27 – Saturday, October 12, 2019, Fridays – Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 4pm

 

All rehearsals and performances will be at The Underground Collaborative. There is a stipend.

Prepare readings from the script (will be provided on the website by 5.1.19), and bring one headshot and resume with to you to your audition. A reader will be provided to read with you. You may also be asked to perform an additional monologue of your own if needed. We invite all persons to audition, including persons of color, all gender identities, and persons with disability.

More than 20 years ago, the psychologist Arthur Aron watched as two strangers, sitting directly across from each other, fell in love in his laboratory as they asked each other a series of 36 questions he had prepared. Six months later, the two participants were married and invited the entire lab to the ceremony. In “To Fall in Love” a couple, Merryn and Wyatt, on the verge of ending their marriage, meet in Wyatt’s apartment and use the questions in hopes of reconnecting and a starting a new phase of their relationship.

Be a fly on the wall of this intimate, humorous and moving production. This production contains adult subject matter. Viewer discretion advised.

THE NETHER, BY JENNIFER HALEY | Spring 2020

One of the most requested plays in recent years, popular female playwright Jennifer Haley blurs reality into a virtual realm known as the Nether. This new form of the internet allows anyone to indulge in their deepest longings, but some realms dive into the most unsavory sexual desires. Detective Morris interrogates members of a realm known as The Hideaway, digging into the emotional consequences of allowing even the imagination to entertain the darkest desires.

 

“The Nether” will be staged at a performance location to be determined. Full dates, cast, and production information will be released as is becomes available.

The Constructivists are currently seeking a Non-Equity Stage Manager for the Midwest Premiere of “To Fall in Love with Anyone, Do This.” Interested persons should send an email with their resume to info@theconstructivists.org. There is a stipend available, and this is a great opportunity to work with the Best New Theatre in Milwaukee (Milwaukee Magazine).

We will be holding auditions for our first full season. All

are welcome to audition, including all gender identities, persons of color, and persons with disability. For this season and the works we are producing, we are generally seeking actors between the ages of 20 and 60.

When: Monday, May 7, and Tuesday, May 8, 2018

Time: 6-9pm

Where: The Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., Grand Ave. Mall, Lower Level, beneath the TJ Maxx

To Prepare: Two contrasting contemporary monologues not exceeding two minutes. It would be worth it to think along the lines of Dark Comedy. Please bring one headshot and resume with you to your audition.

*IMPORTANT: If you sign up for a time after 8pm, you will need to enter the mall before 8pm, as the main entrance is locked at that time.

Callbacks for the first production will be Monday, May 14, 2018, at the Underground Collaborative. Callbacks for the spring production will be in the fall/winter.
